Hang Seng Index
The Hang Seng Index is a tool for recording and monitoring the daily performance of Hong Kong's largest listed companies; it is the main indicator of overall market performance, therefore it is widely used as a measure of fund performance.
The Index is calculated using a weighted capital market valuation method and its constituent stocks includes the categories of: Finance, Industrial and Commercial, Real Estate and Public Utility.
The impact on the share price movement of a certain listed company relative to the Index depends on the market value of the listed company; the higher market value of listed company’s effect on the volatility of the Hang Seng is greater than those with lower market values.
